The focus on collective action for ocean revitalization is timely and highly relevant. In the light of a lot of talk on sustainability, many people lose sight of the fact that ‘shifting baseline syndrome’ lets every new generation of professionals ‘forget’ earlier, richer and more productive conditions in marine ecosystems. Restoring the health of the ocean requires a lot of collective action and cooperation at all levels.

In 2022, Mundus maris would like to support group activities for the World Ocean Day. For this, we welcome the collaboration with well formulated projects (EN-FR-ES-DE-IT) focused on the UN motto. These can be on-site, online or hybrid. The reporting must allow digital coverage at least through text and pictures. Videos welcome.

  • Beach clean-ups in combination with adequate dissemination of information on the health of the oceans;

  • Academic or promotional events to advance action for the recovery of the ocean for fair and affordable human food, and to stop overfishing, particularly harmful bottom trawling;

  • Pedagogical or artistic activities of students and teachers to symbolising the health of the ocean. For example, making large beach mandalas or other drawings in the sand to raise awareness.

If you are interested in collaboration, including some financial support (up to 400 euros), please send us your proposal explaining:

  • proposed objective(s) and expected results (200-250 words)

  • place and time (specify, including if part is planned online)

  • coordinator/key contact and the group concerned (specify)

  • the estimated overall budget and which contribution you seek from Mundus maris (not exceeding 400 euros). When justified and needed, the financial support will be given in advance.
