This year, the annual World Oceans Day on June 8th is guided by the UN theme: “Rethink. Beyond the world we know—a new relationship with the ocean.” It is an invitation to better protect the ocean—which has by now been severely battered by overfishing, climate change, and pollution—to use it responsibly, and, above all, to create space for the ocean’s astonishing capacity for regeneration, so that we may all once again derive greater benefit from it.
